China will provide training opportunities for nearly 600 Bangladeshi professionals this year under a series of government-sponsored programs aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and human resource development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the 2026 Chinese Government Training Programs in Dhaka on Thursday, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen said China would organize 23 bilateral and 30 multilateral training programs covering sectors such as information technology, telecommunications, renewable energy, cross-border e-commerce, transportation, agriculture, tourism and education.
The ambassador said the programs are designed to enhance professional skills, promote knowledge sharing and deepen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Highlighting recent developments in bilateral relations, Yao Wen said cooperation between China and Bangladesh has expanded since the formation of Bangladesh’s new government. He noted that Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman recently visited China, where both sides reaffirmed cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, water resource management, digital economy, green development, healthcare and cultural exchanges.
The envoy also said that more than four Chinese companies have signed investment agreements in Bangladesh over the past three months, with planned investments approaching US$100 million. According to him, China remains the largest source of foreign investment commitments since the new government assumed office.
He added that work is progressing on several key projects, including the expansion and modernization of Mongla Port facilities, the China-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital and the China-Bangladesh Friendship Residential Hall at University of Dhaka.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, former trainees and prospective participants of the training programs. Ambassador Yao expressed hope that the initiatives would further strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
