Cox’s Bazar, June 26, 2026:
UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Tahsan Khan has called for stronger international support for Rohingya refugees after meeting young people in the camps of Cox’s Bazar.
During his visit, Tahsan listened to Rohingya youths’ stories of displacement, uncertainty and resilience. They highlighted the importance of education, skills training and community support in helping them maintain hope despite years of living as refugees.
“The resilience and determination of these young people is truly inspiring,” Tahsan said, urging the international community to continue supporting refugees until they can return to Myanmar safely and with dignity.
He also met participants of skills development programmes, who said the training is helping them prepare for the future and rebuild their lives when conditions allow them to return home.
Bangladesh hosts around 1.2 million Rohingya refugees who fled violence in Myanmar. As humanitarian agencies warn of funding shortfalls, Tahsan stressed that investing in refugee youth is essential to preserving hope, building resilience and preparing the next generation for a better future.
