Dhaka, June 28, 2026:
Oxfam has launched Bridge to Bangladesh, a first-of-its-kind digital platform aimed at connecting Bangladeshi diaspora members worldwide with the country’s development initiatives through knowledge, skills, mentorship, and investment opportunities.
The web and mobile-based platform, bridgetobd.org, was unveiled at a programme in Dhaka on Sunday attended by senior government officials, representatives of international organizations, civil society leaders, diaspora representatives, and journalists.
The platform is designed to enable more than 2.4 million Bangladeshis living abroad to contribute professional expertise, innovation, advocacy, philanthropy and investment linkages through verified organizations and individuals in Bangladesh.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Nazrul Islam said the government’s long-awaited diaspora policy is in its final stage and is expected to be approved soon. He stressed that building trust, improving transparency and reforming government services are essential to encouraging greater diaspora engagement and investment.
Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md. Mokhtar Ahmed said the initiative complements the government’s efforts to strengthen ties with overseas Bangladeshis and could significantly support future diaspora policy.
Joining virtually, UK MP and Chair of the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh Apsana Begum said the Bangladeshi diaspora has consistently supported the country during national crises and expressed hope that the platform would provide a practical pathway for overseas Bangladeshis to contribute to the country’s development.
Developed following two years of research across 12 countries, the platform offers verified user profiles, smart matchmaking, mentorship opportunities, community forums and impact tracking. It aims to transform diaspora engagement beyond remittances into long-term partnerships for Bangladesh’s inclusive and sustainable development.
