GENEVA, Aug 13
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has invited governments and experts worldwide to review the second draft of its 2027 Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-Lived Climate Forcers (SLCF).
The Second-Order Draft (SOD) will undergo Government and Expert Review from August 31 to October 25, 2026. Experts who participated in the review of the First-Order Draft are automatically registered, while new experts can also register until October 18.
The report, scheduled for publication in the second half of 2027, will be the first methodology report produced by the IPCC during its seventh assessment cycle. Prepared by the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI), it will provide methodological guidance for estimating and reporting annual national anthropogenic emissions of short-lived climate forcers.
According to TFI Co-Chair Takeshi Enoki, substances such as nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide have significant impacts on air quality and climate change.
TFI Co-Chair Mazhar Hayat said authors had addressed more than 6,300 comments received during the review of the First-Order Draft.
Following the SOD review, authors will prepare the final draft, incorporating comments from governments and experts. The IPCC will subsequently adopt the Overview Chapter section by section and accept the underlying Methodology Report.
