Youth Entrepreneurship Action Plan Launched

Dhaka, June 14, 2026

The Government of Bangladesh on Saturday launched the National Action Plan (NAP) to implement the Youth Entrepreneurship Development Policy 2025, aiming to boost entrepreneurship and create employment opportunities for young people.

The initiative, launched in Dhaka with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Plan International Bangladesh, seeks to strengthen the ecosystem for youth-led enterprises through improved access to finance, skills, mentorship and markets.

Speaking at the inauguration, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming the youth sector by linking training with self-reliance and job creation. He stressed the need to harness the innovative potential of young people, particularly women.

Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub Ul Alam noted that government employment alone cannot absorb the growing number of educated youths entering the job market. He called for an inclusive and bottom-up approach, including consultations beyond Dhaka.

UNDP Bangladesh Acting Resident Representative Sonali Dayaratne said the policy and action plan provide a timely opportunity to unlock youth potential and build a more resilient economy.

Plan International Bangladesh Country Director Kabita Bose highlighted the need to ensure participation and leadership of women, ethnic minorities and marginalized communities.

Officials said the National Action Plan will provide a structured framework for entrepreneurship initiatives and support sustainable youth engagement in Bangladesh’s economic growth.
