Bangladesh, Türkiye Eye Stronger Youth and Education Ties

Ankara, June 16, 2026

Bangladesh and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in education, youth development and cultural exchange following a meeting between Bangladesh Ambassador to Türkiye M. Amanul Haq and President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdulhadi Turus.

During the meeting held at the YTB headquarters in Ankara on June 15, both sides highlighted the longstanding historical and spiritual bonds between the two nations. Turus recalled the support of Bengali Muslims for Türkiye’s independence struggle and described bilateral relations as rooted in brotherhood beyond diplomacy.

He welcomed Bangladesh’s democratic transition following the February elections and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in education, culture and people-to-people connectivity. Describing Bangladesh as a country of immense potential, he emphasized the role of its young population in driving future development.

Turus noted that YTB’s activities extend beyond scholarships to include youth leadership programs, cultural diplomacy and training in media literacy, citizen journalism, mobile journalism, content creation and digital media. He encouraged Bangladeshi youths to participate in these programs, many of which offer scholarships.

Ambassador Amanul Haq praised YTB’s support for Bangladeshi students and requested an increase in scholarship opportunities. He also proposed signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to institutionalize long-term cooperation.

Both sides agreed to work jointly on expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly education, culture and youth engagement.
