DHAKA, March 31:
The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has announced a $235,000 grant under the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) to restore the historic Musa Khan Mosque, reinforcing a 25-year cultural partnership between the United States and Bangladesh.
The announcement was made at an event held at University of Dhaka, where officials highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve the country’s rich cultural heritage.
In collaboration with Bangladesh’s Department of Archaeology, the project will focus on restoring the mosque’s Islamic architectural features, establishing a permanent digital archive, and training young architects in heritage conservation.
U.S. Ambassador Brent T. Christensen announced the grant alongside Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Director General of the Department of Archaeology Sabina Alam.
According to the embassy, the United States has funded more than $1 million across 13 cultural preservation projects in Bangladesh over the past 25 years, underscoring a deep and enduring partnership between the two countries.
