Russian Prime Minister Congratulates Bangladesh’s New Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Dhaka, 22 February, 2026:

The Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, has extended his congratulations to Tarique Rahman on his appointment as the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

In his congratulatory message, Mr. Mishustin expressed confidence that constructive joint efforts at the governmental level would enhance cooperation between the two countries in trade, economy, investment, culture, and people-to-people relations for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The Russian Prime Minister emphasized that collaboration based on mutual interest and respect could play a key role in advancing the welfare of the peoples of both Bangladesh and Russia.

Analysts note that existing areas of bilateral cooperation—particularly in energy, infrastructure, and trade—could see further expansion under the new government. Moscow’s interest in strengthening ties is reflected in this official message of goodwill.

Following his appointment, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has received congratulatory messages from several countries and international partners, highlighting the global recognition of Bangladesh’s new government.
