Dhaka, 9 February 2026 – The Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Ministry of Finance and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed two key projects on Monday aimed at advancing Bangladesh’s economic transformation and strengthening governance systems.
The agreements, signed at ERD, cover the Transformative Economic Policy Programme (TEPP) Phase II and Institutional Strengthening for Promoting Accelerated Transformation (ISPAT). ERD Secretary Md. Shahriar Kader Siddiky and UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative Stefan Liller signed the documents on behalf of their respective institutions.
TEPP Phase II will be implemented from January 2026 to March 2028 with a budget of USD 3.57 million funded by the UK Government. The programme will support Bangladesh’s post-LDC transition by strengthening trade and investment policy capacity, improving evidence-based policymaking, and enhancing institutional reforms through the Ministry of Commerce and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).
ISPAT, supported by the Australian Government with a budget of USD 1.06 million, will run from January 2026 to June 2027. The project aims to modernize the NGO Affairs Bureau by introducing digital systems, improving transparency, promoting gender-responsive services, and strengthening policy and institutional capacity.
Speaking at the event, ERD Secretary Siddiky said the initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and institutional capacity building. UNDP’s Stefan Liller described the projects as strategic and catalytic for long-term economic and governance reforms.
The signing reaffirms the strong partnership between the Government of Bangladesh, UNDP, and development partners in supporting sustainable development and good governance.
