Bangladesh High Commissioner Presents Credentials to King Letsie III of Lesotho

Maseru, 29 January 2026 — The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Kingdom of Lesotho (non-resident, based in Pretoria), H.E. Mr. Shah Ahmed Shafi, formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III on Wednesday at the Royal Palace in Maseru.

The Presentation of Credentials ceremony took place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time in a formal setting at the Royal Palace. The High Commissioner was accompanied by his wife during the ceremony.

On the sidelines of the credentials presentation, High Commissioner Shafi held separate meetings with the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lesotho, with particular emphasis on expanding trade, commercial cooperation, and exploring new areas of mutual interest.

During his audience with His Majesty King Letsie III, the High Commissioner conveyed warm greetings from the Government and the people of Bangladesh. He expressed Bangladesh’s keen interest in enhancing cooperation with Lesotho, especially in the fields of trade and investment, and extended an invitation to His Majesty to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

His Majesty King Letsie III welcomed the invitation and conveyed his consent to send a high-level business delegation to Bangladesh in the first quarter of the year, signaling a positive step toward deepening economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
