SS Report
Dhaka, 01 December 2025:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) of Bangladesh have renewed their cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance justice and rule of law reforms. The agreement, signed by Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative Stefan Liller, will extend collaboration through the Legal Internship Programme 2025–2026, designed to enhance legal research capacity and groom skilled future lawyers.
The renewed partnership builds on the success of the inaugural AGO Internship Programme 2025, launched on 14 October. The first cohort—25 recent law graduates from four universities—is already working at the Attorney General’s Office, receiving mentorship from senior legal experts and engaging in daily activities at the Supreme Court.
Under the new MoU, the AGO will continue hosting interns for up to six months, offering practical exposure to legal research, courtroom procedures, and professional ethics. A dedicated core committee will oversee the programme’s learning components.
UNDP will provide technical support, training, and opportunities related to human rights, gender justice, and rule of law. It will also coordinate with participating universities to ensure effective implementation.
The partnership aims to bridge academic training with real-world legal practice, fostering a new generation of competent, ethical legal professionals committed to building a more just and equitable society.
