Dhaka, October 21, 2025:
A high-level German delegation comprising representatives from government, private sector, civil society, and academia concluded a five-day visit to Bangladesh on October 21. The visit, organized by the Bundesakademie für Sicherheitspolitik (BAKS – Federal Academy for Security Policy), aimed to enhance bilateral relations and explore avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
During their stay from October 17 to 21, the delegation engaged in a series of discussions and field visits to better understand Bangladesh’s development priorities and regional challenges. In Cox’s Bazar, the team visited Rohingya refugee camps and met with local and international stakeholders to gain insights into the ongoing humanitarian efforts.
In Dhaka, the delegation held talks with Dr Md. Nazrul Islam, Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on regional cooperation to address non-traditional security challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and global health threats.
The group also explored Bangladesh’s textile sector through a program organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), observing sustainable practices in one of the country’s most vital industries.
To deepen cultural understanding, the delegation toured Old Dhaka, Dhaka University, and the National Parliament, reflecting on Bangladesh’s political evolution and the significance of the 2024 mass uprising.
The visit highlighted both nations’ shared commitment to dialogue, partnership, and sustainable development across multiple fields, reinforcing Germany’s support for Bangladesh’s growing regional and global role.
