Dhaka, 9 August 2025:
A specialised medical team from the United Kingdom has arrived in Bangladesh to provide advanced care for those injured in the devastating aircraft crash at Milestone School on 21 July.
The UK Emergency Medical Team (UK EMT), comprising nine highly trained clinical professionals, will support local medical staff in delivering critical care and rehabilitation services.
The team includes infectious disease experts, intensive care doctors, infection prevention and control nurses, and rehabilitation specialists.
Over the next three weeks, the UK EMT will work closely with Bangladeshi clinicians at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where many of the injured students are currently being treated.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, expressed the UK’s solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.
“The UK stands in solidarity with those affected by this tragic incident and wanted to extend its support,” she said. “I am confident that the specialised treatment offered by the UK medical team will accelerate the recovery and rehabilitation of the injured students.”
The deployment of the UK EMT reflects the continuing cooperation between the UK and Bangladesh in times of crisis and underscores a shared commitment to humanitarian assistance.
The aircraft crash at Milestone School claimed several lives and left many, including young students, with serious injuries. The presence of the UK team is expected to bring much-needed expertise and hope to the victims and their families as they begin the long road to recovery.
