New York, 29 July 2025:
Foreign Affairs Adviser Mohammad Touhid Hossain has called for an immediate and complete ceasefire to protect the Palestinian people from ongoing genocide and brutal atrocities.
He made the appeal while addressing a high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Referring to the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, Hossain stated that over 58,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023. He urged the international community to hold those responsible for crimes against humanity accountable under international law.
Reaffirming Bangladesh’s unwavering support for an independent Palestinian state, the Foreign Affairs Adviser emphasized the need for a two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace in the Middle East.
He called on the UN and the global community to play an active role in ensuring peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine.
Hossain welcomed the Arab-led reconstruction initiative for Gaza and declared Bangladesh’s readiness to participate in the rebuilding process under UN leadership. He also strongly condemned any obstruction to UN humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza.
The conference, jointly organized by France and Saudi Arabia, saw participation from delegations of 118 countries, underscoring global support for a sustainable and peaceful resolution to the Palestinian crisis.
